Texas does not really give you autumn. It lends it to you for a few weeks and then asks for it back. If you have been searching for things to do in Katy in October, our advice is to spend those borrowed weeks somewhere that was built for them, and we happen to know a place on Westheimer Parkway.
This is how October looks from inside MidPoint. Not a list of everything happening in town, just an honest guide to the evenings, weekends and late nights we spend all summer waiting for.
From June through September, the Garden Terrace is a place you admire through the window. In October it finally becomes the best seat in the house.
The first cool evening changes everything. Conversations get longer, dinner turns into dessert and then into another round, and nobody is in a hurry to move indoors. The terrace holds up to 75 guests, which makes it one of the larger open air spaces in the area and an easy answer for anyone looking for outdoor dining in Katy without the heat of the last four months.
Acoustic and cultural sets play out here on many nights. The Meyhane corner sets up with rakı and meze platters for tables that prefer to linger, in the old taverna style where the food arrives in small plates and the evening is measured in stories rather than hours.
If you only do one thing at MidPoint this month, do this one.

Some nights need no planning. Thursday is ladies night, and it has a way of turning a quiet midweek dinner into the best night of the week.
It works because it asks so little. No weekend crowds, no early alarm worries for most people, just a table, a few friends and a menu that rewards ordering more than you meant to. In October, with the terrace finally comfortable, Thursday tends to run later than anyone planned.
There is a side of MidPoint that surprises first time guests. Okey, backgammon and domino tournaments run regularly, and the shelves hold Monopoly, Taboo and Scrabble for anyone who prefers a game to a dance floor.
A game night in Katy used to mean someone’s kitchen table. Here it means Turkish tea, a plate of meze and a backgammon board that has seen some serious rivalries. Tournament dates are posted on our social channels first, and they tend to fill with the same regulars, which is part of the charm.
It is also the easiest invitation to extend to someone who does not drink. Nobody needs a cocktail to lose at domino.
Cooler weather changes what people order. In July, the table wants salads and something cold. By late October, the ribeye starts disappearing faster.
Some guests need only one cool evening as an excuse to order the lamb chops.
A few dishes that suit the season:
For anyone who has not yet worked through the Mediterranean side of the menu, October is the right month to start. The food is made for long tables and slow evenings, which is exactly what the season offers.

Katy nightlife has changed a great deal in the last few years, and the biggest shift is that people no longer want one room for the whole night. They want to move.
MidPoint is built for that. The bar and restaurant run louder, with live music and room to dance. The hookah lounge sits apart, with leather seating, a calmer playlist and flavors like Love 66, Mango and the aptly named Lady Killer. The terrace holds the middle ground, open to the sky and easy to drift back to.
Latin nights and Turkish music nights appear on the calendar through the season, each with its own crowd and its own soundtrack. Fridays and Saturdays run until 2 AM, which leaves plenty of room for a second wind.
For anyone shopping or catching a film nearby and wondering about bars near Katy Mills, we sit toward the back of a plaza on Westheimer Parkway, a short drive away and set back from main road traffic. That quiet location is a large part of why people who find us tend to come back.
Saturday and Sunday doors open at 11 AM, and the weekend brunch menu is where most tables begin. Chicken and waffles, eggs Benedict, omelettes and a mimosa carafe in four flavors make a strong case for a slow late morning, especially once the terrace is pleasant at noon.
As a restaurant near LaCenterra, MidPoint makes an easy first stop on a weekend that has errands in it. Some guests come for brunch, leave for the afternoon and return after dark. We do not mind seeing the same faces twice in a day.

If you like a plan, here is one way to use the month without overloading any single week.
| Week | Make time for |
|---|---|
| October 9 to 11 | A first terrace dinner of the season and a late Saturday in the lounge |
| October 12 to 18 | Ladies night on Thursday, weekend brunch on Sunday |
| October 19 to 25 | A tournament night with tea and meze, then a Meyhane evening on the terrace |
| October 26 to 31 | Rest up during the week. Halloween falls on a Saturday this year |
This is also the month when companies start booking December. If you are responsible for the office holiday party, a quick call now will save you a stressful one in November.
This year the month ends on a Saturday, and Halloween Night at MidPoint is built for exactly that. Costumes are welcome and the doors stay open until 2 AM. Full details will go up on our Events page as the date gets closer.
Until then, pick two or three evenings from the list above, leave room for one that was never planned, and if that evening ends up here, call (832) 437-8001 to hold a table. We are at 25600 Westheimer Parkway, Suite 400, Katy.
October is short in Texas. Spend it outside while you can.
